Murr’s Volcano, originally known as Trou aux Cerfs, but often referred to as Murr’s Volcano by locals, is a dormant volcano located in the town of Curepipe in the Plaines Wilhems District of Mauritius. With an elevation of 605 meters, its towering silhouette can be seen from afar in the small town. The crater of the volcano has a diameter of 300 to 350 meters and a depth of 80 meters. Experts predict that although the volcano is currently dormant, it may erupt in the next few thousand years. Following a steep path leads to the crater of the volcano, which is not particularly safe. The crater is blocked by water and debris, making it difficult to see clearly. A wide variety of tropical plants grow around the crater.
