The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is a vast wildlife sanctuary located in the Kalahari Desert in Botswana. Established in 1961, it covers a total area of 52,800 square kilometers, accounting for one-sixth of Botswana’s total area, making it the second largest wildlife reserve in the world.
The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is filled with the beauty of the wilderness, tranquil and vast, making it a destination for adventurous travelers. The golden Kalahari Desert, with its untouched arid environment, has created the unique landscape of this reserve. Especially shortly after the summer rainy season, the reserve is lush with vegetation and abundant water, attracting a large number of wildlife to come here for delicious food. Various African antelopes inhabit this area, including black-tailed wildebeests, South African springboks, impalas, gemsboks, red hartebeests, and springboks. Additionally, there are giraffes, lions, cheetahs, leopards, wild dogs, and brown hyenas. The best time to observe animals is between November and April when they gather in salt pans and valleys.
During other times when the animals in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve are scattered, exploring this vast and pristine wilderness offers a unique travel experience.
