The Ali-Sadr Cave, previously known as the “Ali-Sadr-Ardabil Cave,” is located in the northern part of Hamadan Province, Iran, about 100 kilometers away from the city of Hamadan. It is the world’s largest water cave and one of Iran’s most popular tourist attractions, attracting millions of visitors annually.
The Ali-Sadr Cave is 11 kilometers long and about 50 meters high, with cave walls reaching up to 40 meters high. It consists of several deep and large lakes. Inside the cave flows a slow-moving river, making the best way to explore the cave by pedal boat. As the boats glide on the calm waters, visitors can enjoy the unique views inside the cave. Ancient art and paintings dating back to 12,000 years ago can be found on the cave walls, depicting hunting scenes with images of bows, arrows, and animals, suggesting that primitive humans once inhabited the cave.
In addition to these rock paintings, visitors can also marvel at the stalactites and stalagmites in the Ali-Sadr Cave, which have formed naturally over millions of years in various shapes and sizes, leaving visitors in awe.
