Blagoevgrad is located in the southwest of Bulgaria, in the valley of the Sruma River at the foot of the Pirin Mountains and the Rila Mountains, adjacent to the borders of Greece, Serbia, and North Macedonia, and is the capital of Blagoevgrad Province. The city is the economic and cultural center of southern Bulgaria, and is also home to the American University in Bulgaria and the South-West University “Neofit Rilski”.
Both domestic and foreign investors are attracted to Blagoevgrad as it is the third largest city in Bulgaria for building permits. In order to attract more foreign investment and domestic and international tourists, the city has built a series of parks, bridges, modern shopping centers, among other amenities. One of its most famous tourist destinations is the Bodrost Resort, renowned for its thermal springs and known as a popular skiing destination that appeals greatly to ski enthusiasts.
