Los Cabos is a province in the southern region of Baja California, Mexico. Its economy is mainly based on fishing and tourism, with the tourism industry thriving in recent years. The white sandy beaches, clean ocean waters, deep blue sky, bright sunshine, and abundant marine life have transformed this small fishing village from decades ago into a famous holiday destination.

Located at the junction of the Cortes Sea and the Pacific Ocean, fishing, diving, and whale watching are popular activities among tourists, especially whale watching. From early December to March the following year, gray whales, a rare species, migrate from the distant Bering Sea and Chukchi Sea to this warm bay to escape the cold and breed. In the spring, some massive whales weighing up to 40 tons return to Alaska with their newborn calves.

The arrival of the gray whales has turned Los Cabos into a unique tourist attraction and a natural sanctuary for the world’s whales, known as the “Gray Whale Sanctuary” and declared a “Human Natural Heritage” by UNESCO. Travelers visiting during this season can witness the fascinating spectacle of gray whales enjoying their “honeymoon.”
