The Mamanuca Islands is like a people’s home for island resorts, whereas the Wakaya Club is considered the palace of island resorts. The Mamanuca Islands, located west of the main island, include Mana Island, Castaway Island, Malolo Island, Treasure Island, Beachcomber Island, and South Sea Island, among others. Mana Island is the most famous among them. Each island can be reached by yacht from the main island, and the resorts on the islands typically offer water sports facilities. The resorts range from luxurious five-star hotels to budget-friendly apartment-style accommodations that can be rented by the month. The white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, blue skies, and friendly Fijian people are common features of each island. Many European and American families choose to stay on one of these islands for ten days to half a month, enjoying activities such as daily diving and sunbathing, or simply relaxing on the veranda with a cup of tea, watching the sunset. It makes one marvel at how this kind of lifestyle is truly relaxing and perfect for a vacation. The most precious and alluring aspect of Fiji is its vast expanse of blue seas and skies, as well as the pearl-like coral reef islands that float on the ocean’s surface, captivating observers effortlessly. The Mamanuca Group of islands is the closest and most developed coral reef island group near the main island. The group consists of about twenty small islands formed by different geological origins such as volcanic formations, sedimentary limestone, and coral reef debris. Among them, Beachcomber Island, Plantation Island, and Treasure Island are the most representative coral reef islands in Fiji, with Mana Island being a more popular choice among Chinese tourists. Departing from the yacht marina on Denarau Island, it takes approximately two hours to reach Mana Island, which is 30 kilometers away, and 20 kilometers to Beachcomber Island. As the boat gets closer to the islands, the breathtaking beauty becomes more intense – deep blue ocean water with white sandy islands floating on the surface, green coconut trees swaying on the island, a few fluffy clouds in the blue sky. When the yacht slows down, the clear seawater reflects the traces of coral, presenting a colorful underwater world. This type of coral reef is formed by the pounding waves washing the limestone skeleton of the coral, which has accumulated over time from coral debris, with the coral reefs usually slightly higher than sea level, protecting the sandy islands from erosion by waves or wind. Therefore, there are well-developed coral reefs around the sandy islands where visitors can snorkel along the shore and admire the diverse marine life. The coral reefs also have a wave-breaking effect, making snorkeling and water activities safe and enjoyable.
